An actress embodies six women’s monologues which are connected to the dense field of gender-based violence. Their performances are both fictional and real, while they mainly aim to reveal that far from being fixed and essentialized identities, different women’s lives stand out as “political figures”. The social worker, the mediator, the psychologist, the mother, the peer, the activist, and the lawyer speak of past and present traumas in a scene of waiting. However, their traumas are neither connected to psychological processes nor appear as physical wounds, but rather they emerge as a political contestation and a critique of the structural violence they embody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Affectscapes turn into ‘atmospheres’ that are created both individually and collectively, but most of all they co-construct the public space as scapes of political confrontation with the injustices it produces on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adopting the slogan “we are full of \u03c3\u03c4-\u03bf\u03c1\u03b3\u03ae” (a play with words indicating both care and rage \u2013 or, if read as St. Orgi, it translates as “Holy Rage”) that the brutal public murder of Zac Kostopoulos evoked and also echoed in the protests for Eleni Topaloudi, as in other cases of femicide, in this theatre play the intertwinement of care and rage relate to the daily production of injustices caused by the deaths of those whose afterlives still haunt the public space, especially when the search for social justice remains painfully in suspense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The text of the performance is a transcription of a series of audio fiction documentaries – podcasts produced through interviews and systematic research in the framework of the research project “Affectscapes of care: Gender beased violence and resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic “*, hosted at the Department of Social Anthropology, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
